Landscaping Tips

Winterizing - For the winter months ahead there are certain steps that should be taken to insure your lawn and plants are healthy for the spring. A winter fertilizer with low first two numbers and a high third number such as a 5-10-31 should be applied. Since the leaf of the turf will be dormant, only the roots need to be supplied with nutrition. Many people also turn off their irrigation for the entire winter. This could lead to malnourished plants and turf. The watering cycle should be reduced to 1 day a week and should only be completely turned off in freezing conditions. These steps will make a tremendous difference for the transition from winter to spring.
